CBD oil can do a lot – but only in the right dose. Too little does nothing, too much is unnecessary. We have developed a calculator that shows you how many drops you need based on your body weight, your symptoms, and the oil's strength. Clear, individual, and without guesswork. In this article, we explain how to use it, what is important for dosing – and when you should seek medical advice.
Why CBD Dosing is So Individual
The right amount of CBD cannot be determined universally. What works for one person might be too little or too much for another. This is due to several interacting factors – which we consider in our calculation.
Body Weight and Metabolism
Your body weight influences how much CBD you need. A person weighing 60 kg generally needs less than someone weighing 90 kg – similar to other herbal active ingredients. Additionally, there's your individual metabolism: some people metabolize CBD faster, others slower. The endocannabinoid system, through which CBD acts, is developed differently in everyone. Therefore, a dosage tailored to you is the first step.
Type and Severity of Symptoms
Whether you use CBD for mild tension, moderate discomfort, or more severe chronic issues makes a big difference. For mild symptoms, low doses are often sufficient, while more CBD may be necessary for more intense issues. Our calculator distinguishes between three levels – mild, moderate, and severe – and adjusts the recommendation accordingly. This gives you guidance that suits your situation.
Concentration of CBD Oil
A 5% CBD oil contains significantly less CBD per drop than a 20% oil. The higher the concentration, the fewer drops you need for the same effect. This is practical if you want to take higher doses without having to count many drops. Our calculator automatically considers the oil strength and shows you how many drops are sensible for your chosen concentration.
How to Use the Hanfify CBD Calculator
Our dosage calculator guides you to your personal recommendation in three simple steps. You enter a few key data – and immediately receive clear guidance to get started.
Step 1: Enter Body Weight and Symptom Severity
Move the slider to your current body weight – between 45 and 180 kg. Then, select how severe your symptoms are: mild for general well-being or slight tension, moderate for moderate issues, severe for more intense or chronic symptoms. These two pieces of information form the basis for your individual calculation.
Step 2: Choose CBD Oil Strength
Select the concentration of your CBD oil – from 5% to 30%. The higher the percentage, the more CBD is in each drop. If you don't have oil yet, you can experiment with different strengths and see how the number of drops changes. Optionally, you can indicate whether you regularly take medication – then you will receive an important note on possible interactions.
Step 3: Understand and Adjust the Result
After clicking "Calculate," you will see your personal recommendation: number of drops per application, recommended frequency of intake (e.g., 2–3 times daily), CBD amount per drop and per application, and the estimated daily dose in mg. These values are a guide based on experience – not a rigid scheme. You can adjust the dose after a few days, depending on how your body reacts.
From Recommendation to Practice: Proper Intake
The number on the screen is the beginning – not the end. How you integrate CBD into your daily life makes all the difference. With a few simple principles, you'll quickly find out what works for you.
Start Low, Go Slow
Even if the calculator suggests a dose, we recommend: Start a little lower and gradually increase. Take the recommended amount for a few days and observe how you feel. If you don't notice an effect, you can gradually increase – for example, by 2–3 drops every few days. This way, you'll find your personal feel-good dose without overshooting the mark.
Time of Day and Intake Rhythm
Some take CBD in the morning for a calm start, others in the evening for relaxation. Both are possible – it depends on what you're using it for. For chronic issues, splitting the dose throughout the day (e.g., morning, noon, evening) can be useful to maintain a consistent level. It's best to take the drops sublingually – under the tongue – and hold them there for about 60 seconds before swallowing. This allows the CBD to be absorbed through the mucous membranes of the mouth.
Observe and Document Effects
CBD doesn't always have an immediately noticeable effect – sometimes changes only become apparent after a few days. It can be helpful to briefly note: How many drops did you take? When? How did you feel? This doesn't have to be a diary – a few keywords on your phone are enough. This way, you can recognize patterns and adjust the dose specifically, if necessary.
When You Should Seek Medical Advice
Even the best calculator cannot replace a medical consultation. There are situations where you should talk to a doctor before taking CBD – for your own safety.
Interactions with Medications
CBD is broken down by the same enzyme system in the liver as many medications – especially by cytochrome P450. This can lead to other active ingredients being broken down slower or faster. Caution is advised especially with blood thinners, antidepressants, antiepileptics, or immunosuppressants. If you take medication regularly, clarify the intake of CBD with your doctor beforehand.
Chronic Diseases and Pregnancy
For chronic diseases – such as liver or kidney problems, cardiovascular diseases, or autoimmune issues – you should not try CBD on your own. The same applies during pregnancy and breastfeeding: there are not enough studies to assess safety here. In these cases, medical supervision is important.
Limits of Self-Medication
CBD is not a medicine – and cannot replace one. It can support, balance, accompany – but for serious health complaints, diagnosis and treatment belong in professional hands. Our calculator provides you with guidance for getting started, but it doesn't know your medical history. If you are unsure whether CBD is right for you, talk to a doctor who is familiar with cannabinoids.
